Doberman Pinschers typically have a deep, broad chest, and a
powerful, compact, and square muscular body of medium size.
However, in recent years some breeders have primarily bred, shown,
and sold a slimmer or more sleek-looking Doberman Pinscher. This
has become a popular body type among many owners, especially those
who show their Doberman Pinschers competitively.
If for any reason the rescued Doberman is not working out in its
new home, the adoptive home is legally required to first contact
IDR to allow us the option to accept (or decline) the return of
the Doberman back into the IDR program.
Temperament
The Doberman is naturally protective and does not need additional
"protection" training to be a fine guard dog. In fact he should be
thoroughly socialized when young to prevent over-protectiveness.
Mental stimulation is important for a truly well-adjusted and
happy Dobe.
